5 London coffee shops and cafes to visit when the world opens for business again

Updated: Apr 13

You’ll be thinking about the last coffee shop you were in before the world shutdown and you watched every single one of them slowly but surely announce their closures.

We hope they’ll be back soon enough. And that got us thinking: where will we go once it’s OK to go outside again? We’ll be heading for London as soon as we can and this is where we’ll be hitting, in no particular order.

1. Crispin E1

Easily found not too far from Old Street tube this place cuts a striking silhouette. With rave reviews for it’s food combined with serious coffee intent, it’s a must visit when In the Shoreditch area.

2. Watchhouse

On Norwich Street close to Chancery Lane tube, this place has certainly got the looks. With a slick interior to match the striking appearance outside, we’re looking forward to Ozone Coffees on bar and very tasty looking breakfast and lunch menus. They do cocktails too.

3. Stoney Street 26

To tell you the truth we’ve been all about that famousinstitution that is Monmouth Coffee when in Borough Market. But this place by 26 Grains has us all excited. At last, another Borough Market spot to enjoy! The outdoor seating looks great too if we get back up and running before the weather turns again.

4. The Penny Drop

On Tottenham Street, The Penny Drop promises guest beans every week. Which in of itself is reason enough to pay a visit. All brewed on a Linea PB, Mythos One and EK43, this looks like a sure thing. (Bonus: There are actually two locations, the other is on Whitehorse Road, Boxhill.)

5. Ozone, Bethnal Green

Ah Ozone. A favourite place to stop for brunch when in Shoreditch. Now you can head north a mile or two to their new (ish) Bethnal Green store where we’re sure to get the same brilliant food and coffee.
